EVENT INFORMATION - BUYERS

We’re very looking forward to seeing you in Cairns for ATEC's Explore North Queensland Trade Engagement event, in proud partnership with Tourism Tropical North Queensland.  

Please see details below to assist with event preparation and throughout the event. A reminder to also navigate through the website for all event related updates including the overall program, location and venues, and seller offers available to buyers.

Transfers

Transfers will be provided for most buyers to and from the evening event. Please be ready where and when indicated below to be collected. Transfers will be operated by Tropic Wings. Please look for "Explore North Queensland - Delegate Transfers" signage in the front window to ensure you meet the right transfer.

If you miss the transfer, please make your own way to A Finger, Cairns Marlin Marina, Spence Street, Cairns noting the Spirit of Cairns cruise must be completely boarded by 5.15pm for a 5.30pm sharp departure.

Please note that buyers staying at the Hilton Cairns and the Pullman Cairns International will not receive access to transfers as these hotels are in easy walking distance to and from Cairns Marlin Marina (4-6 minute walk).

Welcome Networking Drinks

Join 35+ local seller members and fellow buyers for canapés, drinks, and networking aboard the Spirit of Cairns Sunset Cruise.

  • Location: Spirit of Cairns
  • Address:  A Finger, Cairns Marlin Marina, Spence Street, Cairns
  • Boarding: 4:45pm - 5:00pm sharp
  • Duration: 5:30pm - 7:00pm 
  • Dress: Business casual. Sunglasses and a hat are recommended - the sun will set at approximately 5.50pm. Appropriate footwear is also recommended - no stilettos however a chunky heel or wedges is fine.
  • Note: if you suffer from sea sickness, please bring any medication that may assist. We will also have some on hand in case required.

Transfers

Following the Welcome Function Dinner Cruise, buyers will be transferred back to the hotels they are staying at (with the exception of those staying at Hilton Cairns and the Pullman Cairns International).

Transfers will be provided for buyers attending the B2B meetings at the Cairns Convention Centre (CCC).  Please be ready where and when indicated below to be collected. Transfers will be operated by Tropic Wings. Please look for "Explore North Queensland - Delegate Transfers" signage in the front window to ensure you meet the right transfer. If buyers miss pre-arranged transfers, they will be required to make their own way to the venue at their own expense.

Business-to-Business (B2B) Meetings

  • There is no formal meeting schedule for this event - all buyers will meet with all sellers. 
  • There will be a total of 38 meetings throughout the day for sellers and 36 for buyers.
  • Sellers will be seated, and buyers will rotate around the room to conduct the meetings.
  • Each meeting will proceed for approximately 9 minutes with a 1-minute change over.
  • Please note that additional buyer delegates will participate in meetings with the primary buyer delegate. They do not receive their own meeting schedule.

  • Dress code: Business casual
  • Parking: Please access onsite, underground parking via the main entrance on Wharf Street. The cost is $4.00 for 0 - 4 hours and $8.00 for more than 4 hours.
Approximate timings for the day:
  • 8:30am – Arrival and registration
  • 8.45am - Sellers to be seated at their tables
  • 8.50am - Buyers to be seated at their starting tables
  • 8.55am – Welcome and meetings to commence
  • 10:45am – Morning tea (25 mins)
  • 12:50pm – Lunch (50 mins)
  • 3:10pm – Afternoon Tea (25 mins)
  • 5:00pm – Meetings conclude and final wrap up
  • 5.15pm - Transfers to post-event delegate dinner with Tropic Wings
  • 5:30pm – Post event delegate dinner hosted by ATEC & TTNQ

Post-event delegate dinner hosted by ATEC & TTNQ

Enjoy a fabulous post-event dinner hosted by ATEC & TTNQ at the magnificent Paper Crane Restaurant which showcases the tastes of Asia with a playful spin and tropical north Queensland’s fresh produce. 

Transfers

Following the post-event delegate dinner, buyers will be offered transfers back to the hotels they are staying at. If buyers miss pre-arranged transfers or wish to make other arrangements following the dinner, they will be required to make their own way back to their hotel at their own expense.

Accommodation

If you advised that you require accommodation during the event, you should have now received confirmation directly from the hotel you are staying at. If you have not, please contact the ATEC Events Team directly via events@atec.net.au

What happens if I can no longer attend?

Can I transfer my registration to another person?

  • Seller and other non-buyer delegates - yes! 
  • Buyers - it may be possible, but given travel arrangements have now been confirmed, there will likely be costs associated with making alternative arrangements. 

How should I get to and from the airport?

On arrival, buyers will need to coordinate their own transfers from Cairns Airport to their designated hotel which is approximately 15 mins travel by car to the CBD. Further, if transfers are not included in post-famil arrangements or buyers are not participating in a famil, they will need to coordinate their own transfers back to Cairns Airport for outbound departures.
