Adelaide is a place that rewards the curious at heart. It is a place for travellers not tourists. It is a place for those who are searching for a deeper and more authentic connection to the land, the food, the people.
Our CBD is only 20 minutes from the airport and our regions start only 30 minutes from there. We are the country's most accessible city when it comes to ease of travel and diversity of experiences and landscapes, all within close proximity of the city centre.
The South Australian Tourism industry showed its resilience during the pandemic, with Adelaide opening several new hotels since 2020, including the luxury of EOS by SkyCity and Sofitel Adelaide.
The SATC supported industry by investing $20 million on the Tourism Industry Development Fund which unlocked a further $82.7 million worth of new and improved tourism infrastructure and products across 114 regional tourism projects. Hosting ATEC Meeting Place will provide the opportunity for key buyers to experience first-hand many of these new and redeveloped tourism products, ensuring delegates leave the event with improved knowledge and a greater understanding of what South Australia can offer to their clients.
In 2019, the South Australian visitor economy reached $8.1 billion, 12 months ahead of target with international contributing 15%. A new target of $12.8 billion was created for 2030 with international increasing to 26% of this target. While the pandemic brought international travel to a standstill, the SATC and our Industry Partners are strong in the belief we can achieve our goal by working together and promoting South Australia to the world.
