CEO of the South Australian Tourism Commission
Welcome to Adelaide and South Australia.
Tourism in our state is on the road to recovery – total visitor expenditure has not only returned to pre-pandemic levels but has surpassed it, reaching an all-time high of $8.3 billion. As we set our sights on our 2030 target of $12.8 billion, hosting ATEC's key tourism trade event – Meeting Place – is an important step to helping us achieve that goal.
The South Australian Tourism Commission is focused on rebuilding our state’s international tourism market – our 2025 International Tourism Strategy sets an ambitious target to reclaim the once $1.2 billion market by December 2025.
As part of this, it is an ideal time to be hosting Meeting Place 2023 and to be showcasing to all attending that South Australia is a must-see destination.
During the pandemic, our industry continued to evolve and there has been strong investment in new and improved tourism experiences across Adelaide and South Australia. Because of this, now is the time to visit.
Our state is a place that rewards the curious at heart. It is a place for travellers – a place for those who are searching for a deeper and more authentic connection to the land, the food and the people.
ATEC Meeting Place is a critical event for our industry, and we join with the Adelaide Airport and Adelaide Economic Development Agency as joint partners to welcome the event to our state and support its success in 2023.
